M.Sc in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biophysics, material Science, Astronomy & Astrophysics, Electronics, Geophysics, Biomedical Science, Electronics, Nanoscience, or Environmental Science with the applicant having graduated under the 10+2+3 scheme or any equivalent scheme from a university whose examination is recognized as equivalent to that of Delhi University and having fulfilled all other conditions of eligibility. The minimum qualifying marks are 50%.

Ph.D Admission:
Admission to the PhD programme comprises of a written examination followed by an interview. The entrance exam is typically held twice a year, normally in January and June. Please Check the Delhi University's website for the announcement of the examination and details.
Candidates a valid JEST/GATE score as stipulated by the department are exempt from the written exam and are eligible for the non-NET University Fellowship.

Ph.D. Programme
Eligibility:
Students qualified in M.Sc/Integrated M.Sc (Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Electronics, Photonics, Optics), M.E./M.Tech and Integrated M.E/M.Tech (Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Opto-Electronics, Radio Physics & Electronics), M.Phil (Applied Physics, Instrumentation, Photonics, Optics, Physics) are eligible for this programme.
Entrance examination is held in December followed by interview in January. Students passing the JEST exam will be interviewd in May/June.

Visiting students Internship Programme
Students who are in the final year of B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Phil/M.Tech can undertake their final year project work towards partial fulfillment of their degree course at IIA. The duration of such projects can be from 6 to 9 months.
Short term Projects:
Students who are in the pre-final year of B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc/M.Tech or final year B.Sc. or within 6 months after the completion of their B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc/M.Sc/M.Tech, can undertake a short-term project at IIA. The duration of such project is from 6 weeks to 6 months only.
Ph.D. Students:
Students who are doing their PhD in other Institutions/Universities/Colleges can visit IIA for collaborative work with IIA faculty. The total duration of this collaborative visit must not exceed 3 months in an academic year.
Candidates selected for this programme, will work on specific projects under the supervision of the academic staff members of IIA.

IUCAA Ph.D. Programme
Eligibility:
Students who expect to complete their M.Sc. degree (in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Electronics, or Astronomy) or B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. degree (in any branch) with 55% marks or more by July are eligible to apply.
The intake of students into IUCAA's Ph.D. Programme is through IUCAA National Admission Test (INAT) / Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) / CSIR-UGC NET for JRF (Physics).

SPPU-IUCAA Joint M.Sc. (Physics with Astrophysics) Programme
Eligibility:
Students should have completed a B. Sc. degree in Physics (with Mathematics up to 2nd year) or a B.E./B.Tech. degree in any branch of engineering, with a minimum of 55% marks.
The admission to the M.Sc. Programme will be based on the written score of IUCAA National Admission Test (INAT)

Vacation Students' Programme
An ongoing programme for which applications are accepted from eligible students in March every year. Students selected under the VSP spend seven weeks at IUCAA working on specific research projects supervised by IUCAA Academic Members.
